Second 112RESCUE show brimming with experiences and set to delight show-goers with innovation and diversity

112RESCUE • 5. Juni 2024

Modern rescue and emergency response show is the 'buyer meets seller' forum for pioneering technologies as well as new and proven materials, products and applications in the industry

Following last year's successful début, 112RESCUE returns between 5 and 8 June 2024. The comprehensive buyer-meets-seller platform and high-content supporting programme is bringing together those involved in fire safety, rescue services, civil defence and disaster control under one roof. A comprehensive mix of trade show, specialist content programme and forums will offer a wide range of products and services for manufacturers, decision-makers and users. The focus is on new trends, leading-edge technologies, practical applications and cross-industry networking.

Dortmund, 5 June 2024 – Two patronages once again emphasise the importance of 112RESCUE for the emergency response sector, with both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Labour, Health & Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine Westphalia having once again assumed sponsorship of the show. The Association of Fire Brigades in North Rhine Westphalia (VdF NRW) is again the conceptual sponsor of the second show for fire protection, rescue services and civil defence and disaster control.

Trade visitors to 112RESCUE can expect a wide range of innovations, evolutions and tried-and-tested solutions from renowned developers, manufacturers and suppliers. The show also offers a host of insights, future scenarios and interesting exhibits from all areas of rescue, protection and safety. In addition, there will be various stages and speciality zones for skills training, discussion and dialogue on current major topics affecting the industry. With the Women in Rescue stage and the award of the same name, 112RESCUE is also the only 'blues-and-twos' show to send a clear signal in favour of greater visibility, equality and appreciation for female members of the emergency services. There are also plenty of networking opportunities for professionals, including meet-and-greet sessions with well-known brand ambassadors.

Big-name specialist content programme in all exhibition halls

The diversity of the show is also reflected in the highly informative supporting programme delving deep into topics such as rescue robotics and extreme weather events as well as threats and tactical situations. For example, well-known weather expert Karsten Schwanke from German public service broadcaster ARD will be speaking on the Main Stage on Wednesday 5 June (starting 11:15 hrs) on 'Adventures with Extreme Weather' looking at the origins of this specific weather phenomenon and also addressing the dangers to people and the environment. In the subsequent panel starting at 11:45 hrs, he will discuss preventive measures in the event of extreme weather and practical operations with Dr Marlene Willkomm (Deputy Head of the Cologne Flood Centre) and Frank Waldschmidt, Head of NRW Flood Relief Psycho-Social Support at the German Maltese Cross in North Rhine Westphalia.

The new highlights of the supporting programme include the DRZ Rescue Robotics Days, bringing together users, research institutes and businesses. The opening ceremony on 5 June will get underway at 11:00 hrs with a special show act on the Main Stage (Hall 6) presented by Dirk Aschenbrenner, CEO of the German Rescue Robotics Centre (DRZ) and Director of Dortmund Fire Department. After that, Hall 7 will be the hub of the action with exhibitors, a specialist content programme and special events areas for ground-and-air robotics, including a soft-robotics system for situational awareness in confined spaces as one of the innovations on show. Innovative rescue robotics technologies for aerial (various drones), land (tracked and wheeled vehicles as well as scraper systems) and water applications (remote-controlled fire-fighting boats and diving robots) will also be presented. In addition to highly informative talks, product presentations and expert panel discussions, there will also be an exhibition featuring a wide range of drones and robotics solutions. Relevant deployment scenarios – robotic systems on the ground and in the air – will also be simulated live in a realistic environment in various special events areas. With a little luck, drone units can win exclusive training at the German Rescue Robotics Centre's training centre . >>> Programme

Largest civilian event for tactical medicine in the German-speaking world

The Tactical Situations in Emergency Services symposium (Hall 1), a unique interdisciplinary platform for strategies and tactics for threat situations (now coming to Dortmund for the first time) will also see experts reporting on the latest innovations in tactical medicine, presenting concepts for dealing with dangerous situations and analysing real-life operations with exclusive background information. The event is organised by publisher S+K‑Verlag.

Broad range of suppliers with high innovation potential

National and international market leaders and specialist suppliers (from countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria and France, to name but some) as well as institutions, organisations and associations will be spread across four halls plus the outdoor grounds with a comprehensive portfolio of products and services in all key protection and security disciplines. The range of items on show from exhibitors will include vehicles and vehicle equipment, equipment for fire stations, rescue stations and deployment sites, rescue devices and equipment, extinguishing technology and extinguishing agents, medical technology and sanitary equipment, measuring equipment, communication and control centre technology as well as work clothing.

One innovation from deconta (Hall 5) is sure to attract particular interest. A uniquely equipped fire brigade equipment vehicle for emergency site hygiene ensures immediate operational readiness and the highest possible safety for the fire-fighters in attendance. The fire brigade in the south-western German city of Worms has only recently been equipped with this.

Equipment company Dräger will also be in attendance with a Dräger Safety Car. In addition to its stand in Hall 5, Dräger will also be co-exhibiting with Carl Henkel (also in Hall 5), a high-quality supplier of equipment for extreme rescue operations. Here, fire safety professionals can obtain a wide range of information on new products, technical devices and safety solutions. As a specialist in efficient fire containment for large-scale forest and vegetation fires, Alpha Robotics (Hall 7) will be presenting the new tactical operational robot 'Superwolf HR1' which will be on display in the outdoor area.

The special product innovations also include a command trailer for disaster control. The portable building from Ixet e.K. is suitable for use as an emergency centre and a mobile crisis and training room for scenarios such as blackouts, major emergencies, pandemics and epidemics. The exhibit will be presented by Peter Schmitt GmbH (Hall 6), a specialist in equipment for fire brigades, rescue services and industry.

André Willer alias 'FeuerwehrWilli' will also be back with his own stand in Hall 5.

Networking get-together for a good cause

In addition to daily changing evening events, the Association of Fire Brigades in North Rhine Westphalia invites all rescue personnel to a get-together on the open-air grounds on 7 June starting at 15:00 hrs.
